The NY Times’ Mirta Ojito had this nice appreciation of Leon Ichaso, Cuban boy made good, with the premiere of his newest directorial effort, El Cantante, J.Lo & Marc Anthony’s pet project about Hector Lavoe & his wife Puchi. It made me proud when the Times referred to him as The Scorsese of Salseros. He’s roared loud and well. El Super, Crossover Dreams, Piñero, El Cantante, Bitter Sugar and a solid body of TV directing work to support it.
