Jacob M. Ruefer is the bomb. A musician who has great kinda Johnathan Richmond-like originals, like ‘Trophy Wife“, but also, importantly, a buncha amazingly cool and original covers of obscure songs from the likes of M.I.A, Fleetwood Mac, Blondie, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Morrissey, Joanna Newsom, Beastie Boys, Prince, Wolf Parade, New Order, My Morning Jacket, The Smiths, Daniel Johnston, The Misfits, Cat Stevens, The Flaming Lips, U2, Wilco, Ryan Adams, The Strokes, Bright Eyes, Tom Waits, Tommy James and the Shondells, Raveonettes, Palace Music, The Damned, a-ha, The Beatles, etc.. And he makes videos. Great, sweet videos of all the songs he covers. This one is just scenes from Rushmore, one of our favorite flicks. Usually they are weird and unique, like on the Magnetic Fields song “The Death of Ferdinand de Saussure” or Lithium from Nirvana which uses the old Pink Panther cartoons. Watch out for the Philomath. He also offers them up for download as well.
