A Miami music icon has become the subject of a new Wynwood artwork. Artist Christina Foss, known as FO$$, shared a custom Gloria Estefan portrait created for the art gallery at the Kush Korner apartment building.
In her September 30 Instagram post, Foss describes the original as a 48-by-48-inch work made with acrylic and diamond dust on canvas. She says she had three days to complete the commission, and that transporting the oversized canvas required an UberXL.
Estefan responded in the comments with appreciation for the tribute. The exchange gives the project a personal connection to the singer whose image inspired it.
According to her official biography, Foss is a self-taught contemporary artist and muralist originally from Massachusetts. Her work combines portraiture, realism and pop art, with music among her influences. This commission brings those interests into a distinctly Miami setting.
