Diego Luna’s Ceniza en la boca / Ashes has received the Euskadi Basque Country 2030 Agenda Award at the San Sebastián Film Festival.

The Mexico–Spain production, presented in the festival’s Horizontes Latinos section, was recognized for its treatment of migration and the social questions surrounding it. The award includes €20,000 for the film’s majority producer.

In a video message, Luna described cinema as a way to encourage collective reflection. The recognition brings attention to a film about leaving home, finding a place in the world and the people who receive those starting over.
