Colombian boxer Carlos Utría took another major step toward the sport’s elite by defeating American fighter Israel Mercado in a competitive 10-round bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Utría earned the victory by split decision, improving his professional record to an undefeated 15-0. The result further establishes the Colombian prospect as one of Latin America’s most promising young boxing talents.
