Lily Brown from People writes about Bad Bunny continuing his historic run.

The Puerto Rican superstar’s Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show received nine nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards, making it the most-nominated Super Bowl halftime performance in Emmy history.

The February performance attracted approximately 128.2 million viewers, becoming the fourth-most-watched halftime show ever. Now, it is competing in several Emmy categories, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is recognized as both the show’s lead performer and one of its producers. Other nominated members of the production team include Jay-Z, Desiree Perez, Jesse Collins, Noah Assad and director Dave Meyers.

The achievement adds another major milestone to an already groundbreaking year for the artist. Bad Bunny also won three Grammy Awards in 2026, including Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The victory made it the first Spanish-language album to win the Recording Academy’s top honor.

Only one Super Bowl halftime production has previously won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live): the 2022 show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 14, 2026, in Los Angeles.

Bad Bunny’s record-breaking nominations represent another powerful moment for Puerto Rican and Latino music on one of entertainment’s biggest stages.
