Latin American esports organization LYON, based in Mexico, has been crowned the Free Fire champion at the 2026 Esports World Cup after delivering a record-breaking performance in Paris.

LYON secured the championship by reaching the tournament’s Champion Rush threshold and then claiming the decisive final Booyah. The victory earned the organization the $300,000 grand prize, 1,000 Club Championship points and qualification for the 2026 Free Fire World Series Global Finals.

The team also made tournament history during the competition, scoring a record 45 points in a single match. That performance included 33 elimination points and 12 placement points from a Booyah victory.

LYON’s championship represents another major achievement for Latin American esports and demonstrates the growing influence of Latino players and organizations within the international gaming industry.

The Free Fire tournament featured 24 teams competing in Paris from July 15 through July 18 for a share of a $1 million prize pool. Under the Champion Rush format, a team first had to surpass the required points threshold and then secure a Booyah to officially claim the championship.

With the victory, LYON now advances to the Free Fire World Series Global Finals, where the organization will once again represent Latin America on one of competitive gaming’s largest international stages.
