Alicia Civita from Latin Times writes about Barbie taking another step toward more inclusive representation with the launch of its first-ever doll with Type 1 diabetes. The new Fashionistas doll includes details like a continuous glucose monitor, insulin pump, and a phone that tracks glucose levels in real time, all created in collaboration with Breakthrough T1D to better reflect the tools many children use every day.

The launch also spotlighted Robin Arzón, the Peloton instructor, author, and endurance athlete of Cuban and Puerto Rican heritage, who received a one-of-a-kind Barbie inspired by her own experience living with Type 1 diabetes.

Together, the doll and Arzón’s recognition mark a meaningful moment for visibility, especially for Latina girls navigating chronic health conditions and looking for themselves in the world around them.
