Ready faithful viewers?! On gen n in April we’re celebrating National Record Store Day. Not, April 1st mind you. (I gotta think of a practical joke for April Fools Day first! What shall we do to the gen n crew?!) Anyway, since we’re the only Network with a show called 45 RPM – (and since most of our hosts have never even held a Vinyl record, they’re too young!) We wanna see what happens when we put a Vinyl record in 19 year old Natasha Izqierdo’s hands.
This is for local INDEPENDENT music stores – not chains, not online outlets, but local Indie record shops. In Miami, where gen n is based, we’ve had great Latin stores over the years plus the classic Yesterday & Today owned by Richard Ulloa, Michael Dean’s Yardbird Records – and heck — gen n is old enough to remember the Happy Note, the Head Shop / Record Store on Main Hwy in the Grove. These days, we’ve got Lolo’s spot – Sweat records which at one time was based INSIDE Churchills Pub. Anything to stay indie gang. We’ll keep ya posted on on special vinyl only pressings artists are doing to get in the spirit and drive traffic to the stores. (By traffic we mean people walking through the door , not clicks — for once). This’ll be fun ya’ll. Un abrazo and XO.
